Security at Mavuno Marketplace

Mavuno is designed to help buyers, sellers, farmers, drivers, and service providers trade with greater confidence. This page explains the safeguards we use and the steps every user should take to protect their account, payments, information, and transactions.

Updated: July 27, 2026 Marketplace security guidance
Protected Accounts

Secure authentication, password protections, verification, and suspicious activity monitoring.

Safer Payments

Approved checkout methods and escrow controls help reduce payment and delivery risk.

Verified Participants

Identity, business, seller, farm, and driver verification may be required before access or payout.

Fraud Response

Suspicious listings, messages, payments, and account activity may be reviewed or restricted.

1. Protecting Your Account

Your Mavuno account may contain personal information, transaction history, messages, payment details, listings, and seller or buyer activity. Keep access restricted to authorized users.

  • Use a unique password that is not reused on email, banking, or social media accounts.
  • Never share passwords, one-time codes, reset links, or authentication tokens.
  • Confirm that you are using the official Mavuno website before entering credentials.
  • Sign out when using shared, public, or borrowed devices.
  • Keep your email address and phone number current so security notices can reach you.
  • Contact support immediately if you notice unfamiliar logins, messages, listings, or transactions.
Mavuno support should never ask you to send your password, full payment credentials, or one-time security code through chat, email, or telephone.

2. Payment Safety

Use only the payment methods presented through Mavuno checkout. Off-platform payments may remove escrow, dispute, refund, and transaction tracking protections.

  • Confirm the product, seller, price, delivery terms, and order summary before paying.
  • Do not send money to unrelated personal accounts because a seller claims checkout is unavailable.
  • Do not pay additional fees that were not disclosed in the order or approved through Mavuno.
  • Review payment notifications carefully and do not rely solely on screenshots.
  • Never permit another user to remotely control your device to complete a payment.
  • Report duplicate, unauthorized, altered, or suspicious charges promptly.

3. Escrow and Transaction Protection

Eligible transactions may use escrow, allowing funds to remain secured while the seller fulfills the order and until release conditions are satisfied.

1
Buyer Pays

The payment is recorded and may be held while fulfillment begins.

2
Seller Fulfills

The seller prepares, dispatches, delivers, or makes the product available.

3
Funds Release

Funds become eligible for release after confirmation or applicable review.

Buyers should inspect products promptly. Sellers should retain listing records, delivery proof, messages, invoices, photographs, and other transaction evidence.

4. Fraud and Scam Prevention

Common warning signs include:

  • Requests to move immediately to private messaging or payment channels.
  • Prices that are unusually low without a reasonable explanation.
  • Pressure to pay urgently before inspecting details or verifying the seller.
  • Requests for deposits unrelated to a valid marketplace order.
  • Payment screenshots that do not match your actual account or Mavuno transaction status.
  • Profiles, farm details, certificates, or business documents that appear altered or inconsistent.
  • Links that imitate Mavuno but use an unfamiliar domain or spelling.

Mavuno may restrict listings, messages, orders, payouts, or accounts while reviewing possible fraud, impersonation, abuse, chargebacks, or account takeover.

5. Safe Marketplace Communication

  • Keep transaction-related communication within Mavuno whenever possible.
  • Do not send passwords, bank PINs, card numbers, security codes, or identity documents without a legitimate verified need.
  • Do not open unexpected attachments or install software sent by another user.
  • Be cautious of links claiming that a payment, refund, verification, or delivery requires immediate action.
  • Report harassment, threats, impersonation, suspicious requests, or abusive behavior.

6. Personal Information and Data Protection

Mavuno uses administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect information against unauthorized access, misuse, loss, alteration, or disclosure.

  • Access to sensitive information should be limited to authorized personnel and necessary functions.
  • Payment data may be handled by approved payment service providers.
  • Security logs may be maintained to investigate access, fraud, and system activity.
  • Users must not collect or use buyer, seller, driver, or employee information for unrelated purposes.
  • Users should delete unnecessary downloaded documents and avoid storing sensitive data on shared devices.

For details about information collection and use, review the Mavuno Privacy Policy.

7. Delivery, Collection, and In-Person Safety

  • Use verified delivery details and confirm changes through the marketplace.
  • Avoid carrying unnecessary cash when an approved digital payment method is available.
  • Use safe, public, or business-appropriate collection locations for unfamiliar parties.
  • Inspect machinery, livestock, produce, or high-value items before final acceptance where practical.
  • Record delivery confirmation, collection details, condition, quantity, and recipient identity when appropriate.
  • Report unsafe delivery requests, threats, theft, or suspicious driver behavior immediately.
